With two weeks left to finish the design for my first semester of architecture studies I almost forgot to post some pictures from the last days of 2013… better late than never, although nobody wants to see Christmas stuff anymore, here we go!
We spent the days until Christmas at Dresden were my boyfriends family lives. As a present to ourselves after a really busy year we decided to check into the Kempinski Taschenbergpalais hotel during our stay in Dresden. And it was so nice. There was even a ice-skating rink in the courtyard.
Besides spending some time with the family we visited the traditional Christmas market called `Striezelmarkt`.
And because one Christmas market isn´t enough we also explored the `medieval` Christmas market. Which was much nicer than any other medieval market thing I ever visited. Not that I do that all the time.
I love walking through the `Zwinger` although it is somehow a little bit empty in winter with no water in the ponds and no flowers on the lawns.
The `Fürstenzug` mosaic is definetly a must-see. As one can clearly determine with all those tourists standing there one day before Christmas.
It was such a shame that our only day to visit some museums was monday. And surprise – all of them were closed. I wanted to see the reconstructed rooms of the Albertinum planed by architect Volker Staab so badly. And the new part of the war museum designed by Daniel Libeskind was only visited during nighttime…
But we had some awesome days in beautiful Dresden.
On the first Christmas day we drove half way through Germany to visit my parents and stayed there until New Years Eve.
And this was the ending of 2013… and 2014 is already going strong. More architecture, more books, more faith in myself and my skills, definetly more traveling and spending lots of time with the best people who are really worth it are the new years resolutions I made for myself. Make this year the best one yet!
